8 tips for eating well (Food Standards Agency - EatWell)
These practical tips can help you make healthier choices. The two keys to a healthy diet are eating the right amount of food for how active you are and eating a range of foods to make sure you are getting a balanced diet.
A healthy balanced diet contains a variety of types of food, including lots of fruit, vegetables and starchy foods such as wholemeal bread and wholegrain cereals; some protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs and lentils; and some dairy foods.
- Base your meals on starchy foods
- Eat lots of fruit and veg
- Eat more fish
- Cut down on saturated fat and sugar
- Try to eat less salt - no more than 6g a day
- Get active and try to be a healthy weight
- Drink plenty of water
- Don't skip breakfast
We select the products provided using a strict nutritional criteria, following the guidelines as set out by the Food Standards Agency (EatWell). This is:
- Low in saturated fat - must be less than 5g per 100g
- Low in added sugar - max 15g per 100g of added sugars
- Low in salt - 1.5g salt per 100g (or 0.6g sodium)
- No artificial additives
